I own a lot of gold and silver but part of me wonders how far things need to go for people to care as much about 'precious' metal as they do hyperinflated paper

RJ - Frankly I don't think that ' People ' ever will care about ( let alone understand ) the difference between Precious Metals & Hyper-Inflated Paper - least ways not until it's far too late for them to do anything about it . Look at all of the other propaganda , bullshit & lies they all lap up & take as Gospel - Covid / Man Made Climate Change / Men having baby's / You can choose to live as a Cat .......the list goes on . I don't know whether you've ever had a go at educating any friends & family as to the difference between Real / Sound Money and Fake Money ( Currency ) ....I have & however simplistic the terms are I've attempted to couch this in at least 75% of them all glaze over & think I'm a bit of a Crank / Nut-Job

Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I meant that if paper money value collapses I wonder if things will get so bad that people stop valuing precious metals too.

Gold & Silver have a history of 5,000 Years + as being the sheet anchors / foundations upon which every other form of monetary system that's ever been magiced into existence is based upon . They are always there when everything else has collapsed into worthlessness . It'll be no different this time around - only much worse . It's a bit like the ' Heathens ' who all of a sudden fall to their knees and implore God to forgive and save them from their wicked ways . This is precisely what ' FIAT ' is doing now with Gold & Silver needless to say playing ' God ' ..

The world is in a new place. We have the capability to destroy everything. The earth, agriculture, everything. And it seems to me like we're on our way.

You can't feed your family with metal. So there *is* a line at which people won't care about how 'real' gold is as money. Let's just hope things don't get that bad.

The Sellers / Farmer's of the very foodstuff's that we'll all be wanting to

put in our loved one's mouth's , and " Come the Time " will recognise the worthlessness of paper money so will not take it ' BUT ' they will readilly accept Gold or more likely Silver & this has been the case many times over the past 5,000 +_ Year's - ' SO ' in a way ( & if you've got it ) , then this is an example of feeding your family with Metal ...NO ..??

And here in Canada the biggest export to China is precious metals which of course includes gold. There is probably no better example of the lunacy of our politicians than that.

Absolutely I'm a believer. Crickey it almost feels like a Religious experience, seriously though can't believe they had us all fooled, credit was a store of value when in fact it is backed by nothing...in NZ our coinage represents in color only Gold , Silver and Copper..I'm looking forward to hearing from the BRICS Summit regarding their progress adopting Gold ( not an easy thing to do)..but good on them for committing to the process

YES , very much a " Religious Experience " - Gold & Silver throughout history and from time immemorial have always been known as ...." GOD's MONEY " ...Because they are .

Alasdair, for ordinary people much of the great stuff you put out would be hard to understand or might be taken by others as yet another conspiracy theory. You warn of the collapse of the Fiat currency system and suggest a return to some iteration of the Gold Standard. What practical steps can people take to grow/ protect the purchasing power of their savings. I am 72 and living off savings as only a trivial pension but I have 4 children who ate still in an accumulation stage of life. I'm not looking for financial advice, just genetic general suggestions. I have as part of my portfolio some exposure to mining stocks, gold ETFs, physical gold.

Thank you.
