We discuss the media propaganda, how the political imperative is destroying the US economy, the catastrophe of Ukraine, their bankruptcy and Turkey's position.
Good Evening Alasdair, Informative interview as ever. Thank you.
I have a couple of questions to ask if I may be so bold regarding the situation here in the UK.
Now that the cat is out of the bag vis 'a vis the UK going as guarantor to Ukraine for a huge sum which it seems to have come back to bite whoever decided it was a good idea to do it in the first place.🤦🏻♂️ Just how bad a position are we in?
We know that the BoE has taken losses into the billions on the bonds they bought at their highest level during the scamdemic and now their only worth about 48% of their value.(I think) Of course that hit has been dumped onto the public because due to some myopic government agreement we, the public, get to take the hit on all the banks losses yet we're not allowed to share in their profits. Wonderful decision that was🤦🏻♂️!!
Also, when everything went awry in '22 when it was discovered that the pension funds were playing fast and loose with the LDIs and nearly collapsed the entire pension system. Just how well have they really recovered, given that they must've also been hit by bond losses too?
And lastly, you talked about there being a bond strike in regards to the US 10 treasury. Do you foresee a UK gilt strike coming too? Are we about to see a real problem coming for Sterling?
